If you find a bug or anything that is confusing, I would really appreciate
any feedback.
A screenshot of the problem, a GIF or JPEG image, would be most helpful.
(In fact, this would put you in the BitWorks Hall of Superheroes!)
Basics
On the BitWorks homepage,
artists are listed on the left side of the screen.
Move the mouse over an artist name to see a description
in the center of the screen.
Click on the artist name to display all albums available by that artist
in the BitWorks catalog.
You may also click on the
catalog link in the artist description.
Artist descriptions contain a
website link which will open
a new browser window to display the selected artist's website.
Listen
All albums in the BitWorks catalog have a
Play all link to play
1 minute samples of all tracks on the album.
Click on the
+ track list link to expand the track
list and display all song titles.
Clicking on an individual track will play the 1 minute sample.
All samples are previewed using streaming audio.
Download
Click on the
Buy MP3 button to purchase the album download in
MP3 format.
BitWorks purchased downloads are MP3 encoded using near lossless quality
settings (variable bitrate, typically around 260 kilobits per second).
Click on the
Buy FLAC button to purchase the album in lossless
FLAC format.
FLAC stands for "Free Lossless Audio Codec".
You can download FLAC
by clicking this link.
For an overview of FLAC, try the
Wikipedia entry.
After clicking a Buy button you will be redirected to
Paypal to complete
your purchase.
After payment is successfully completed,
click on the Return to merchant link to be redirected to your
album download page.
A link to your download page will also be sent to the email address
you specified when paying.
You do not need to have a Paypal account to make a payment.
Paypal accepts credit card payments without requiring a Paypal account.
If you prefer,
you may contact us to make alternate payment arrangements.
The Goods
Artwork is included with all album downloads.
When available,
files may include additional information such as lyrics, reviews, and
liner notes in a dynamic web-browsable format.
Downloads are delivered as two or more
zip
files.
Make sure you completely download all parts of the album.
On most computers,
double clicking on a zip file will allow you to extract
all files contained in it.
We recommend you copy your music to a safe place or burn a CD in
case your hard drive meets an untimely demise.
Relax. We've Got Your Back!
If anything goes wrong with your downloads,
we are committed to your complete satisfaction and will do whatever we
can to resolve any problems.
Let us know if there is anything we can do to improve our service.
Privacy
We take your privacy seriously.
BitWorks only retains information necessary to process your order.
Because all payments are processed by Paypal,
we do not store personal payment information other than a record of what
was purchased.
We will never share or sell any of your personal information.
File Sharing
As a musician and an advocate for artists,
I understand the problem posed by widespread sharing of music on the web.
Most of those who make copyrighted music available freely online are
interested in promoting the music they love.
The problem is that online,
sharing downloads is no longer a matter of people sharing a few CDs between
friends.
It is more akin to standing on a busy street corner
passing out free music to anyone who walks by.
Those who wish to share music with others should first receive permission from
the copyright holder.
That said, the legal witch hunts of some in the music industry are
beyond ridiculous.
One goal of BitWorks is to bring musicians in closer contact with
those who enjoy their work.
70% of the purchase price of BitWorks downloads goes directly to the artists.
